Benefits of Mindfulness Exercise

benefits of mindfulness

Mindfulness is being aware of the present moment and acknowledging feelings and thoughts without judgment. The benefits of mindfulness are huge in our body and mind. This leads to a heightened awareness that allows one to live more fully in the moment rather than letting life pass by without knowing.

Like many life skills, mindfulness can be cultivated through practice – working out your brain to keep it fit, strong, aware, and resilient. When you try to practice it, you might follow some rules like physical exercise.

Mindfulness practice is effective for physical well-being/relaxation and mental satisfaction. Some of the benefits that can bring about are:

The orientation of Meditation (Complimentary)

To get the benefits of mindfulness, proper orientation is essential. 1-hour orientation session offers potential Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program participants and those interested in the program an opportunity to learn more about mindfulness meditation and the 8-week MBSR program.

The session includes a short meditation practice to allow attendees to experience mindfulness firsthand and explore whether the 8-week program suits them.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

Mindfulness is being aware of the present moment and acknowledging feelings and thoughts without judgment. Contrary to letting your life pass you by, it involves being in the moment and having a heightened awareness of the world around you.

The experiential study identifies the benefits of mindfulness meditation:

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an 8-week beginning program through guided meditation, group dialogue, and home practice. The program focuses on using yoga/mindfulness practice to manage everyday stressors related to daily work, health, relationships, and other concerns.

From the eight weeks course, you can learn how to be more present and more aware of automatic reactions and communication patterns that cause stress.

How and From Where Benefits of Mindfulness Meditation come?

MBSR was developed in 1979 by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at The Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Kabat-Zinn, who founded the Center for Mindfulness in 1995, is widely recognized as a pioneer in integrating meditation practices and meditation into mainstream medicine.

Today, the program is offered in medical centers, corporations, schools, and other settings. In addition, MBSR is a widely researched meditation program in both scientific and clinical studies.

This MBSR course has consistently shown benefits in reducing medical and psychological symptoms in many medical conditions, such as chronic pain, psoriasis, etc.

This 8-week training meditation program aims to equip leaders and working professionals with mindfulness skills to cultivate resilient behaviors.

This meditation’s essential and most effective outcome is an individual who can thrive under pressure, master change, and overcome adversity at the workplace and beyond.

This program is delivered by MBSR teachers who the Centre fully qualifies for Mindfulness (Home of MBSR). It is a structured curriculum to introduce secular meditation practices to participants (e.g., sitting meditation, body awareness, simple movement exercises) to enhance how we think, feel, behave, and communicate.

Each program’s schedule spans eight weeks, with a 2 hours session once a week and an additional full-day intensive practice session. It is a highly participative course that also requires a commitment to regular home practice.

Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to apply the discipline of meditation to enhance one’s level of resilience, specifically in the areas of:

Self-Intelligence:

  • Bring focus & clarity to priorities
  • Increase mental stamina for higher performance & productivity
  • Improve composure under challenging and stressful scenarios

People Intelligence:

  • Enhance ability to relate & coach others with empathy and deep listening skills

Situational Intelligence:

  • Develop perspective agility to extract innovative insights from complex problems at the workplace
  • Identify opportunities to apply mindfulness to workplace culture, processes & habits

These can be customized to requirements. They range from half-day mindfulness workshops to the entire 8-week MBSR course held in-house. MBSR teachers are experienced in teaching adults, children/ youth, and in different settings (e.g., corporate, schools, research).
