Chief Archie Fire Lame Deer (Author) & Helene Sarkis (Illustrator)

Archie Fire Lame Deer is an author and a Lakota Sioux Holy man. He’s the son of the medicine man John Fire Lame Deer. He has written ‘Gift of Power: The Life and Teachings of a Lakota Medicine Man’ and Richard Erodes.

Archie is a full-blooded Sioux and has generations of medicine men in his lineage. He’s a lecturer on Sioux religion and culture, and he travels around the globe to teach the ways of Native American spiritualities. He also often performs healing ceremonies. Reforming jails where the medicine men could go and perform healing ceremonies was his contribution. He’s an active executive in programs focusing on rehabilitating Native American alcoholics.

Archie’s endeavors have placed him in the ranks of spiritual leaders like the Dalai Lama in the quest for establishing world peace while remaining true to his roots as a traditional Sioux medicine man.

Archie returned to his native South Dakota and settled at home among the Sioux people, his lovely wife Sandy, and their three children John, Josephine, and Sarah. Archie has already chosen John as his successor. Thus, he means to continue the tradition that generations of Lame Deer have followed and will continue to follow in the future; the way of the Lakotas.

Helene Sarkis is a designer by profession. She’s working with numerous Native American projects, several of which are associated with Archie Fire Lame Deer.
